Ordering repeat Prescriptions

Repeat prescriptions can be ordered in the following ways:

• Order online using the NHS app (or via Patient Access). You can easily choose where your prescriptions are sent. So, if you know you'll be away from home or you are moving home, you can change your nominated pharmacy from within the app. You can also order your prescription at any time that suits you. There's no need to wait to join a telephone queue or wait until the GP surgery opens. It's easy to use, and, if you hit a snag, you can go to 'Help' in the top right-hand corner of the app or visit nhs.uk/helpmeapp. Find out more about the NHS App at: www.nhs.uk/nhsapp
• Put your repeat prescription request slip in the box at reception
• Telephone the surgery on the repeat prescription line on 0191 2428240 - Please leave clear and concise details of your name, date of birth, address and telephone number as well as the medication name and strength. If you choose to order your repeat medication via telephone, please leave 48 hours for your request to be processed.

  We cannot ensure prescriptions are processed if we do not have the above details completed accurately every time. All of these details are available on your current prescription.

In the interest of patient safety, we would encourage patients to take advantage of online services to order their repeat medication where possible.

We no longer offer the facility to order prescriptions via email or fax

Electronic Prescribing Service

The surgery is now using the Electronic Prescribing Service. This service allows you to choose a chosen pharmacy for your prescriptions to go to. You will still need to put the request for any medication in as normal but instead of collecting the prescription from the surgery, 48 hours upon receipt of your request it will be at your chosen pharmacy for you. When requesting medication, please ensure you have provided us with the name of your nominated pharmacy. For more information, please speak to a receptionist or call 0191 2324274.
